Asare Bediako, 35, was discovered dead in his family home in Trohwe, a residential hamlet in the Techiman Municipality of the Bono Region. Asare, who was discovered dead this morning, was scheduled to return to Akumadan in the Ashanti Region, where he is a tomato farmer.
Ama Bediako, Asare Bediako’s wife, had been waiting for her husband at the Trohwe taxi stand for nearly an hour when she decided to go check on him. Ama had already made plans with her husband for their meeting spot on Wednesday evening, December 29, but Asare was nowhere to be found.
Ama Bediako and her seven-month-old infant walked from Trohwe taxi stand to her husband’s family residence, where she discovered him dead in a pool of alcoholic drinks. Asare was brought to the Techiman Government Hospital, but it was too late to save him.
He was pronounced dead at Techiman Government Hospital at 7 a.m. today. Asare Bediako’s elder brother, John Bediako, has gone missing since his brother was pronounced dead this morning. John, who accompanied his brother’s wife to the hospital, was believed to be shivering on the way there but could not be located until the physicians at Techiman Government Hospital confirmed Asare’s death.
After it was determined that Asare died as a result of poisoning, Uncle Bediako, the uncle of Asare Bediako and John Bediako, admitted that John was the one who poisoned Asare to death. Stephen Bediako, also known as Uncle Bediako in Trohwe, said that John Bediako had repeatedly asked him for ‘Kondem,’ a chemical used in cocoa spraying.
I had no notion he was planning on using the chemical on his sibling. His intention was to see his brother die in Akumadan, but he didn’t know how to take the medicine, and his brother died here in Trohwe instead. According to Stephen Bediako, the chemical is a toxin that may be effective for more than 17 hours if taken correctly.
John Bediako, who has gone missing, had intended to give his brother a part of the Kondem drug in the hopes that the brother would die on his trip to Akumadan today, but the brother died in Trohwe.
It hasn’t been proven, but according to Stephen Bediako, John Bediako poisoned his brother over a plot of land the two were meant to share. He wanted his brother dead, but whenever he laughed about it, I assumed he was joking.
There were occasions when John would make jokes, such as, “Why didn’t death take you instead of Maame?” This refers to why Asare did not die instead of their mother. According to Stephen Bediako, looking at how he was able to kill this brother, John had been preparing for this for a long time.
John Bediako has gone missing, despite police searching for him at every turn in Trohwe and the neighboring areas.
