Tears Flow As OMESS Student Stabbed To Death By Gari And Beans Seller
A first-year General Art student at Oyoko Methodist Senior High School (OMESS) in Koforidua, aged eighteen (18), was stabbed to death.
Roland Asare, 18, was stabbed during a fight between his uncle and a co-tenant, Kwaku Kyere alias old Soldier, in a compound house at Ogua near Koforidua Jackson Park on Monday, July 11, 2022, afternoon, but died the next day at the Eastern Regional Hospital.
The deceased’s uncle, a painter, revealed that there was a disagreement between the suspect and a mason who was renovating a toilet facility in the house and that the suspect pulled a cutlass and a stick to separate them.
However, a few minutes later, he witnessed the suspect physically assaulting his elderly mother, Comfort Essaah, but the suspect became enraged when he attempted to rescue the mother.
This resulted in a fight, during which the now-deceased boy attempted to save him but was stabbed by the suspect, who was hiding a knife.
The victim was rushed to the Eastern Regional Hospital, but he died the next day.
The deceased’s family, including comfort Essaah’s grandmother, who raised him since their mother died in infancy, wants justice served.
The suspect, Kwaku Kyere alias Old Soldier, has been arrested and detained by the Koforidua Central Police Station.
