Supreme Court orders Anas Aremeyaw Anas to appear in court without his mask to face Nyantakyi
The investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has been ordered to appear in court without his mask and face former GFA president, Kwesi Nyantakyi.
The investigative journalist must testify in court regarding the issue against the former president of the Ghana Football Association without wearing his mask, according to a ruling handed down by the Supreme Court on Tuesday morning.
The Supreme Court of Ghana has now overturned an earlier decision by the Accra High Court that permitted Anas to testify behind closed doors.
On Tuesday, November 8, 2022, the court that was presided by by Justice Baffoe-Bonnie stated that the order from the High Court that awarded Anas the exceptional privilege lacked a legal foundation and that it should be overturned.
In the upcoming criminal case Republic v. Kwesi Nyantakyi & Others, the well-known crime journalist is expected to testify as a witness for the prosecution. His undercover investigation in 2014, dubbed “Number 12,” revealed that Nyantakyi took bribes.
