SHS school prefect aspirant promises “1 Student 2 Bread” despite food crisis in schools
The video, which appeared to have been shot during a manifesto reading at the Ahmadiyya Secondary School, showed the aspirant making the promise to the excited students.
Many people on social media have drawn parallels between the Akufo-Addo government’s promises and the young student politician.
The student’s promise to his classmates comes at an inopportune time. Food shortages in Ghanaian secondary schools have forced students to bring their own sugar and bread to the dining hall for breakfast.
“1 student 2 bread” as a promise has been compared to Akufo-Addo’s One district, one hospital and a promise of 1 district 1 modernized hospital.
Other promises include: One village, one dam; one million dollars per constituency per year; and One region, one theatre, in which Akufo-Addo promised to pursue the construction of modern large seating theatres in every regional capital, except Accra, beginning with Takoradi, Tamale, and Kumasi.
More assurances are included. Akufo-Addo promised modern markets and retail infrastructure in every district to boost domestic trade in one district, one market.”
