Multi-Award Winner Diana Hamilton, a Ghanaian gospel musician, has spoken about the difficulties she had in early school when she only had one uniform.
Diana Hamilton explained that, despite attending a wealthy school, she only had one uniform that she washed and ironed every day to ensure she was always clean for school.
Diana Hamilton, recounting her poor beginnings, revealed that she continued to wear that particular uniform until she outgrew it.
“I started sixth grade at Morning Star School, which is thought to be for the rich, and had only one uniform, and despite growing tall with the uniform below my knees, it was all I had.” I couldn’t even stoop to sweep when my students were nearby because I’d be practically naked. So, when it’s my turn to sweep, I get there as early as possible to do so before everyone else arrives.”
“My dad was really committed and sought ways and means for me to stay with someone whose kids were in Morning Star so I could also attend the school, and that’s how I ended up there and sat in a pickup bucket every day to go to school,” she explained in an interview with Adom TV.
