The Asankragua Divisional Command has initiated a manhunt for a pastor who is accused of stealing 40,000 from a female church member, setting fire to her house, and disappearing.
Kenneth Mensah of the Mega Word Chapel International is believed to be on the run after trapping the victim, Rosemond Amoafo, in her house and setting it on fire.
According to reports, he spent the night at her house praying for her safe passage to the UK.
Nana Kumi, Chief Superintendent, is appealing to the public for help in apprehending the culprit.
According to Myjoyonline.com, he stated, “We have published his photographs and the name of the church in the public domain and are asking people to help us arrest him,”
“Report any foul methods used by a clergyman to the local police station if you suspect any,” the police chief advises the public.
Rosemond Amoafo’s daughter, Joana Asare, explained that her mother received the 40,000 after her family sold a business they owned, among other things, to fund her mother’s desire to travel overseas.
Kenneth Mensah, on the other hand, convinced the victim that her elder sister, Rebecca Amoafo, was a witch and that efforts were being made to sabotage her travel.
He then promised to provide her spiritual guidance based on the money given to her by her family before she embarked on the expedition. On January 10, the suspect went to the victim’s residence in Kwesibokro, an Asankragua neighborhood, and slept there.
The next day, Tuesday, January 11, he instructed the victim to recite specific words written on the money and also gave her a concoction to drink. After consuming the aforementioned remedy, the subject fell asleep.
The perpetrator then departed after stealing the victim’s 40,000, setting fire to the house, and fleeing.
However, the quick involvement of the Fire Department saved her life.
