Sad Video of Ghana police officers begging and kneeling ‘galamsey’ boys for money. (watch)
A video on the internet depicts the vulnerable condition of some Ghana Police Service officers pleading and begging illicit mining, or galamsey boys.
The video’s content recounts a story of encounter between local police officers and the youths whose employment was illicit gold mining.
After attempting to make an arrest, the officers were halted by these lads, who appeared to exert considerable power and influence.
At one point, one of the powerless cops began pleading to their morality, using their relationship as a negotiating tool to persuade them to yield.
One of the police officers’ uniforms was confiscated, and in order to escape further punishment, the officer was forced to grovel before them while pleading vehemently.
Many people expressed their outrage after seeing a police officer kneel and show reverence to citizens who they were meant to apprehend for unlawful activities.
A police vehicle was trapped in the muck at the site, which was allegedly in the Western Region. The footage has sparked outrage on social media.
