This Is The Real Reason Why Shatta Wale ‘attacked’ Jackie Appiah

In a video that went viral yesterday, Shatta Wale verbally attacked Jackie Appiah.

In a lengthy rant about the E-levy bill yesterday, Shatta Wale stated that he has lost respect for the screen goddess. His reason is that Jackie Appiah let him down in some of the issues he has raised.

  1. Disagreement over celebrity education ambassadors for COVID-19.

During the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, Shatta Wale proposed that the government pay some celebrities to raise awareness about the virus and how it can be managed.
During an interview with 3FM, Shatta Wale stated, “They’re working and getting paid… They are charging us taxes here and there, which we understand. Our royalties aren’t getting to us, so we’re not even making the money we need to make; so if the government wants to hire me, Stonebwoy, Sarkodie, or anyone else, they should be aware that something needs to be done. It’s a custom.”

The outspoken Ghanaian musician stated unequivocally that he will demand payment because he is not a member of their political parties or the political business they run. “We can’t just say we’re going to do it for free.” I am not a member of their political party. It’s best if they put down a package. For someone like me, doing it for free will be extremely difficult.”

However, when asked if she agrees with Shatta Wale’s viewpoint, Jackie Appiah responded, “We all need to educate each other…

This is a global issue; it is not limited to my industry. It’s quite sad…occasionally, I use my platform to educate people.”

She stated on 3FM at the time, “I don’t need to wait for government; nobody needs to wait for anyone to call them.” I believe it is appropriate for an individual to preach to people and to talk to people; that is why we have numbers. God has given us the numbers we need to educate people…everyone needs to educate people because people don’t understand [what is going on].”

  1. Attendance at a stakeholder meeting of the National Lottery Authority.

The National Lottery Authority (NLA) invited a number of Ghanaian celebrities to a stakeholder meeting in September of last year. The meeting focused on how to raise awareness about fraudsters who use NLA games to defraud people.

It is believed that these celebrities, including Jackie Appiah, Stonebwoy, Okyeame Kwame, Akrobeto, Lil Win, and Kalybos, paid to appear so that their influence could be used to boost the NLA campaign.

According to Shatta Wale, he is disappointed in Jackie, who disagreed with him that the government should pay celebrities to be COVID-19 education ambassadors but attended the NLA event for a chicken change.

He also claims that the government, through the Ghana Gaming Commission, has prohibited celebrities from running advertisements for betting companies, despite the fact that the same celebrities were used by the NLA and none of them could speak out. He chastised them for remaining silent on the e-levy bill.
