Queen Elizabeth Honors Shatta Wale along with Otumfuor, and Akufo-Addo just Hours After Shatta wale was released from jail
Shatta Wale is already swimming in brand sponsorships and high-profile appointments just hours after being granted bail.
Charles Nii Armah Mensah Jnr, better known as Shatta Wale, has been chosen as one of Ghana’s public people to carry the Queen of England’s Baton.
The Queen’s Baton Relay is a global relay staged prior to the start of the Commonwealth Games. The Baton conveys a message from the Commonwealth’s Head of State, presently Queen Elizabeth II.
The Relay begins at Buckingham Palace in London, as part of the city’s Commonwealth Day celebrations.
Nana Akufo-Addo, President of Ghana, was the first to carry the Queen’s Relay Baton as it landed in the country on Monday, October 25, 2020.
The President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Ben Nunoo Mensah, has stated that the baton, which arrived in Ghana yesterday, will be paraded through the main streets of Accra, Tema, and Kumasi.
He went on to say that a list of dignitaries and prominent personalities had been chosen to carry the baton when it was paraded, with Shatta Wale among them.
Ben Nunoo Mensah further mentioned that, in addition to President Akufo-Addo, the Queen’s Baton will be carried by Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
Not only will Shatta Wale, the president and Asantehene, carry the baton, but so will Sports Minister Mustapha Ussif, 2020 Olympic bronze medalist Samuel Takyi, and all other participants in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Celebrities such as Stonebwoy, Kofi Kinaata, and international diplomats have also been lined up to carry the baton before it departs the country on October 28th for Cameroon.
The Commonwealth Games baton relay is an integral feature of the Games, and it will transit through 72 nations prior to the Games in 2022.
