Last week, a Kenyan youngster was nailed to a tree for allegedly stealing a radio, and he has asked social media users to stop mocking him.
Collins Sambaya, 19, said the incident was traumatic and that Kenyans should stop making jokes about his suffering.
“People should stop comparing me to Jesus and the two thieves who died on the cross alongside him. “I am a torture victim,” Sambaya told The Standard.
“In fact, I believe Jesus saved me from the jaws of death,” he continued, adding that the experience had changed him and that he now wishes to return to school.
“After all that I’ve been through, I want to be a helpful member of society in the future.”
The adolescent, on the other hand, insists that he never took the Ksh.6,000 radio that his friends accused him of stealing on February 18th.
“He wondered aloud, “Why would I steal a radio when my grandfather has one and my uncle has at least three?”
Sambana’s grandfather claimed that Eric Irime and his younger brother, both from the region, nailed his grandson to the tree.
“The incident happened at 2 p.m., but I didn’t find out about it until around 5 p.m. “The suspects came to our house and convinced my grandson to follow them into their residence, where they performed the crime,” Henry told Citizen Digital.
“My grandson is a good kid.” The suspects took my grandson to a local police station a few days ago, where they accused him of stealing the radio.
Officers, on the other hand, released him after determining that there was no evidence to back up the pair’s claims.”
After villagers liberated him from his plight, Sambaya was brought to Itando Mission of Hope and Health Care, where he is currently healing.
In the meantime, the two suspects are still on the loose.
