The Most Reverend Benjamin Akwasi Ansong of the Ebenezer Methodist Congregation in Breman In a letter to Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia thanked him for his knowledge of religious tolerance.
When the church host its annual 31st December watch night service on Friday night, the Veep and his wife, Samira, were among the guests in attendance.
Dr. and Mrs. Bawumia attended the service after receiving an invitation from the church, which is headquartered in the Ashanti Region.
As a result of their attendance, Very Reverend Akwesi Ansong expressed his thanks to them for having accepted his invitation. He also thanked them for their generosity.
He went on to commend the President for his unique grasp of Ghana’s religious plurality, which he called “amazing.”
“We have Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in our midst tonight, which is a breath of fresh air. As the congregation applauded, the Methodist Pastor stated, “This demonstrates his grasp of religious tolerance.”
In spite of the fact that this is a Christian gathering, he has determined that it is appropriate to exhibit his love and pleasure, which is in accordance with what the Bible teaches that we should celebrate with those who are celebrating.
And if we Christians have come together to express our gladness, and the Vice President (who is Muslim) has joined us, we must show our gratitude to God for what he has done for our country, Ghana, ” says the pastor. “It is something that we must hold onto with all of our might.”
We are pleased that God has touched his heart and that he has joined us here, and we must pray for him as well as His Excellency President Nana Akufo-Addo and the leadership of our country as we pray, he said.
“The Bible teaches us to offer honor to those who deserve it, therefore, let us all get to our feet and pray for our visitor.”
Dr Bawumia, in his address to the congregation, urged everyone to demonstrate the same peace and tolerance that Ghana is recognized for in order to contribute to the preservation of peace.
In his speech, Dr Bawumia remarked, “We are one people, and this is what will perpetuate the peace that we have as a country.”
