“Ofori Atta is doing a good job for Ghana’s Economy” – Akufo Addo

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has given a reason for keeping Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta on the job even though most people want him to quit.

He says that because of Ken Ofori-Atta’s work, the economy, which had been on the verge of collapse, had grown by an average of 7 percent by the time the ruling party took office in 2017.

He stated that he was unable to say no to someone who had accomplished so much for the country. He explained that he is keeping Ofori-Atta in office because he has been very productive for the past six years and deserves to be rewarded for his efforts.

“When I came government in 2017, our country was already in the middle of an IMF programme. Ken Ofori-Atta was in charge of the economy for the first three to four years and did an excellent job of managing it,” Nana Addo said. “In those days, our economy was one of the most dynamic on a global scale. Our rate of expansion was a respectable 7% per year on an annual basis.”

“How can I possibly turn my back on someone who has the ability to achieve all of these things?” In my opinion, he has turned in an outstanding performance,” He continued.

After the firing of Kwasi Kwarteng by the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom because of the country’s mini-budget, the number of people calling for Ken Ofori Atta’s resignation rose.

Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, a member of Parliament for North Tongu, is in favour of the minister’s impeachment. In a twitter post, e wrote: “Kwasi Kwarteng hasn’t done a fraction of the damage Ken Ofori-Atta has caused the Ghanaian economy but he gets to be sacked and Ken is showered with praises from his family member, President Akufo-Addo as Ghanaians languish in more pain.”
