Vida Ajin, a 40-year-old woman, was arrested by police in Nsawam for her involvement in a robbery attack. The crime took place in Dobrokrom, a Nsawam neighborhood. Vida had intended to rob her husband, Maxwell, because he had refused to give her money.
Vida had planned to travel outside of the country on the 28th of January and had requested her husband for GHC 8000 to cover her travel expenses. Maxwell urged that Vida to inform him of her intentions or he would refuse to give her the money. Vida had obtained a VISA to the United States through an old classmate, Peter Aboagye, and all that remained was the money to purchase a plane ticket.
Her flight, which was originally scheduled for January 4th, had to be canceled due to a lack of cash. That compelled her to notify her spouse of her travel intentions. Maxwell refused to assist his wife since he was unaware of her ambitions. Vida’s family even phoned Maxwell to beg him to release the money on her behalf.
The family later returned to Maxwell’s house to plead once again, but this time he denied the money and proclaimed that his marriage to Vida was ended since she did not consider her spouse and children before making those preparations. Vida arranged for some young men in the region to assist her in robbing his husband.
She assured the guys that if they assisted her, she would bring them money and stuff from the United States. This gave the young men a lot of confidence to loot Maxwell. However, the young men said they had no idea it was her spouse they were attempting to steal. Maxwell is a merchant in cement and iron rods. He was ambushed by seven thieves after he had left work, who grabbed all of the money he had made that day, a total of GHC 12,194.
Maxwell reported the robbers to the police in Nsawam, who apprehended all seven of them. The robbery gang’s commander, Philip Achiaw, told police that Vida was the brains behind the operation that resulted to her imprisonment. Vida and the seven men will appear in Nsawam District Court 1 to face charges of robbing her spouse of GHC 12,194.
