The new Ghana coach, Chris Hughton, says it’s a terrific time for him to be back in his father’s birthplace and reunite with his Ghanaian family.

"My father is from Jamestown Accra, so I am an area boy" – Chris Hughton reveals.

The 63-year-old arrived in Ghana last week and is widely regarded as the front-runner to become the next Black Stars coach.

Hughton was born in England to Willie, a Ghanaian father, and Christine, an Irish mother. He played for Northern Ireland during his football career.

Last Thursday, the former West Ham United manager paid a courtesy call on Nii Ayi-Bonte II, the Gbese Mantse, and expressed his delight at being back home.

Hughton remarked, “It’s a pleasure to meet you.” “I’ve heard a lot about you, and I know you’re a big football fan.”

Most importantly, I’m traveling to my family; my father is from Jamestown, and this will be a fantastic opportunity for him.”

“Your words of wisdom are truly appreciated and welcomed, and this is something I’ll keep in mind.”
