Former Black Stars midfielder Michael Essien has proven his fans wrong by releasing a photo of his family. The footballer came under fire after promising to support the rights of Ghana’s LGBTQ+ community.
Many Ghanaians made fun of the former Chelsea player, even calling him gay. He removed the message immediately after the backlash on social media.
Now, the renowned midfielder has responded to his detractors by proving that everything said about him was incorrect.
On March 8, 2021, which happened to be International Women’s Day, he used social media to celebrate all women.
He shared a photo of his three children to commemorate the occasion. He was photographed dressed in the same outfit as his children.
Because they were covered in love emojis, his children’s faces were obscured in the photograph. His photo had the following caption:
“Happy International Women’s Day to all the mothers out there”
