lady who was rejected by her dad for getting pregnant and dropping out of school now a successful businesswoman.

Salome Chepkemoi, 27, had a difficult start, one that looked to throw a gloomy cloud on her future and made her appear as a letdown back home.

Her life took its first gloomy turn when she became pregnant in Form Two, which resulted in her father’s abandonment. As if that wasn’t enough, Salome received a D in her 2012 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations (Plain).

From the outside, fate appeared to have chosen for her, yet like a seed planted in healthy soil, she grew again and turned her life around.

Salome stated to  Hillary Lisimba that she left home after receiving unsatisfactory test results and entered the world of hustling.

She began working at a boutique, where she received a little commission for each client she served, but she was also teaching herself important parts of the company.

Salome eventually used the talents she had acquired, as well as her funds, to open her own little boutique on the estate.

“A kindhearted landlord offered me rental space in Kipkaren where I paid just KSh 1,500 per month, that made it easy for me to break even faster,” she explained.

As luck would have it, one of her friends was leaving the country for good and gave her the opportunity to take over the business she had been running in Eldoret town.

Salome claims she paid some money as goodwill, which was not much and then continued to pay rent for the premises as the previous renter did.

Salome’s enterprise took off soon after she took over the firm, and she was able to build a second branch. She currently operates the two stores and has also engaged in chicken farming, from which she delivers wholesale eggs to Eldoret.

Salome now has her own home, two cars, and devotes her attention to her thriving enterprises. She is a married woman with two children and a third on the way.
