“When the young men came to me, they told me to go with them to the palace and while we were on our way, they kept beating me until we reached the palace,” she told a reporter.

“I could hear people yelling, “Flog her, flog her” Nobody came to my aid. After they flogged me 20 times, I was left with bruises and blisters all over my back and buttocks,”

“I was left to my fate. I had to call a friend who took me to the Wa municipal hospital for treatment and paid for the treatment; I think it was between five hundred and six hundred cedis.”

That day of humiliation and suffering has left me no choice but to stay away from work. During the interview, she broke down in tears and said, “I hope I could obtain a respectable job somewhere to take care of myself.”
