Asante Kotoko’s owner and life patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, expressed his disappointment with the club, stating that it continues to embarrass him.
The overlord of the Ashanti kingdom visited Kotoko’s Adako Jachie training facility, which is still under construction, and voiced his concerns about the club’s management and accumulated debts.
He highlighted that the debts were incurred from hotel expenses and players’ salaries and wages, spanning the last two months, including June and July.
The Asantehene emphasized the need to clear the debt before addressing player recruitment. Despite winning the league last season, Kotoko’s performance declined, leading to the dismissal of their coach, Seydou Zerbo.
The Asantehene has now appointed a four-member Interim Management Committee to oversee the club’s operations.
