Chief Abeirekyieba Kofi Sammy, a legendary Ghanaian and Nigerian musician, has recounted amusing encounters with Rawlings.
During his younger years, the singer of the classic hit “Yellow Sisi” admitted to smoking a lot of marijuana.
Chief Kofi Sammy spoke with Kofi Adomah of Kofi TV about how he used to smoke pot with Rawlings while he visited him at his home.
According to the iconic Highlife musician, Chairman Rawlings’ wife, Nana Konadu, became enraged with him and ejected him from their home.
He emphasized that the PNDC leader’s wife was not pleased with the way he was always smoking pot with her husband while he visited.
Born in Koforidua, Chief Abeirekyieba Kofi Sammy wrote hit songs in Ghana before moving to Nigeria to join his friend Fella Kuti.
He created generational hits like ‘Yellow Sisi Dey For Corner’ and ‘Everyday Waka Waka’ while in Nigeria.
