Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, aka Bulldog, a Ghanaian artiste management, thinks Kofi Kinaata is more professional than Gyedu-Blay Ambolley, a well-known Ghanaian highlife musician.
Ambolley’s songs, he argues, are unrelatable and soon forgotten.
“I am an artiste manager,” he claimed on Happy 98.9FM’s Showbiz Xtra. There were individuals singing better than him even during his era.”
The style of music Ambolley is renowned for means that even if he were an artist today, no one would play his songs.
“He wouldn’t have gained airtime even if he came during Kojo Antwi or Lumba’s time,” he claimed.
“Kofi Kinaata is a greater musician than Ambolley,” he said, comparing the Fante rapper to the Fante vocalist.
Unlike Ambolley’s lyrics, which are difficult to understand and connect to, Kofi Kinaata’s melodies are ageless, according to him. Especially in light of what we see in the music industry now.
