Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central, has confirmed purchasing a new Mercedes Benz.
He revealed on Oman FM that the new Mercedes S-Class was purchased with money left over from his brain tumor surgery.
The outspoken politician underwent successful surgery in the United States of America recently.
He revealed that he paid approximately 8.5% in taxes when purchasing the vehicle.
“My hospital bills in America had leftover funds, so I decided to treat myself by purchasing a Mercedes Benz S-class… as I speak to you, I have paid 80,000 dollars in advance but have yet to receive the car to pay the balance,” he explained.
“What irritated me was that I went there (to the dealership) and we arrived at 138,000 dollars plus tax of more than 8.5 percent.” The same tax that you refuse to pay here. In Ghana, where do people pay taxes on car purchases?
“After calculating the amount and taxes, it came to 151,000 dollars.” They now told me that I needed to pay an extra $10,000 due to scarcity and their efforts to get me a car. ‘Are you crazy?’ I inquired. “How come you didn’t include it?”
