Talbot also held coaching positions in the World Hockey Association in 1975-76. Throughout his playing career, Talbot accumulated 43 goals, 242 assists, and 1,014 penalty minutes in 1,066 games.

In 151 playoff games, he scored four goals, 26 assists, and 142 penalty minutes. During his time with the Canadiens from 1954-67, Talbot played 801 games, scoring 36 goals and 209 assists.

He won the Stanley Cup in 1965 and 1966. His standout season was in 1961-62, where he earned his only selection to the NHL’s All-Star Team 1st team with five goals and 42 assists in 70 games.

He also finished third in Norris Trophy voting as the best defenseman that season.

After the 1967 Stanley Cup final loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs, Talbot was claimed by the Minnesota North Stars in the NHL expansion draft but was soon traded to the Detroit Red Wings after playing only four games.

Following a short stint with the Red Wings, Talbot was claimed off waivers by the Blues.

In St. Louis, he reunited with former Canadiens teammates Harvey, Moore, and Plante, who all played crucial roles in Montreal’s late-1950s dynasty.

Talbot helped the Blues reach the Stanley Cup final in three consecutive seasons, but unfortunately, they were swept each time by the Canadiens and the Boston Bruins.
