Ghanaian movie producer and media personality, Ola Michael, has voiced his opposition to the former French Ambassador to Ghana, Anne Sophie Ave, regarding the issuance of diplomatic passports to Ghanaian musicians.
In a recent tweet, Ave called for diplomatic passports to be given to musicians, claiming that they have made exceptional contributions in promoting Ghana globally, surpassing the efforts of the country’s official ambassadors. She specifically mentioned artists such as Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Black Sherif, Shatta Wale, R2Bees, and King Promise as deserving candidates.
However, during a discussion on UTV’s United Showbiz, Michael disagreed with Ave’s stance. He argued that artists like Shatta Wale should not be granted diplomatic passports due to their questionable behavior and bad conduct. Michael claimed that Shatta Wale displays a disrespectful attitude towards everyone in Ghana, making him an unworthy candidate for such an honor.
Michael further expressed his disagreement with Ave’s suggestion, stating that musicians often travel internationally for personal gains and financial benefits from performances abroad, rather than primarily promoting Ghana or representing the country’s interests on the global stage. He urged people to focus on more significant issues within the country instead of advocating for musicians to receive diplomatic passports for their personal interests.
