“It broke my heart when a professor told me, f0.ols have no place in parliament”- Kwame Dzokoto
Kwame Dzokoto, a former radio personality, and advertising magnate has slammed academics who questioned his competence when he ran for the Tarkwa-Nsuem Member of Parliament seat.
According to him, in a radio broadcast, one Dr Amoako Baah stated that his comedic nature prevents him from leading the people of Tarkwa-Nsuem.
“When you are an actor or a comedian, people assume you do not have the mental capacity to think, and that was my concern. That was unexpected. This was said by a professor. Professors speak with authority because they do studies to back up their claims, but this one was devoid of evidence.
“We are not going to fool at Parliament, we do serious business there,” the scholar added. He was taken aback by what he said.
He questioned where the university professor received his knowledge because he appeared to be an empty person based on his humorous persona.
To him, it is critical that he be assessed on his ability to work efficiently and with enthusiasm, rather than on the persona he portrays in commercials and films.
When asked why he entered politics, Kwame Dzokoto stated that the people of Tarkwa-Nsuem believed he had influence and could lead to change and progress in their lives.
However, he was unable to win since the people of Tarkwa-Nsuem are historically New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters, despite the lack of accountability over the years.
