“I’m Sorry For Calling Nana Addo God Of NPP” – Piesie Esther Apologizes
Gospel musician Piesie Esther has admitted to making a faux pas during a recent performance at the 40th-anniversary celebration of the Tagoe Sisters event. The singer referred to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as the ‘God of NPP’, a term that garnered criticism from members of the public.
In response to the backlash, Esther confessed that she had erred in her choice of words. She expressed regret over her actions during an interview with Adom FM, excerpts of which were shared by GhPage TV.
The gospel musician explained that she often customizes her ‘Waye me yie’ song during live performances to include the names of prominent personalities in the audience. She does this to help her audience relate to and understand the message of the song.
“Since my ‘Wáye me yie’ song was released, whenever I go to a program and I’m ministering, I approach any prominent personality around and minister the song to him because I want the person to understand the lyrics of the song; that’s how I do it all the time,” she said.
However, she admitted that referring to President Akufo-Addo as the ‘God of NPP’ was a misstep. She has since learned from the experience and promised to exercise caution in future performances.
