“I’m Scared For The Next Generation When It Comes To Music”-Kofi Kinaata [Video]
Martin King Arthur, better known as Kofi Kinaata, a popular Ghanaian Highlife singer, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the type of music that the new generations are exposed to as opposed to what the oldies did during their time.
According to the “Things Fall Apart” singer, the bar has been lowered, particularly because the Ghanaian music industry is structured in such a way that any kind of song becomes an instant hit, regardless of whether the message is good or not.
In an interview, Kofi Kinaata stated that he is concerned for the next generation because they may be listening to tunes on the radio that they believe are music, but that is not even close to music in his opinion.
According to Kofi Kinaata, not every song has to be a hit. He explained that such songs are only meant to be listened to and are not intended to be hit singles, but this is the case where the new generation follows trends and thus anything enters.
Kofi Kinaata stated that his “Things Fall Apart” song was being compared to his “Behind The Scenes” song, and that most people were disappointed that he couldn’t live up to their expectations, but he knew his goal and the power of his lyrics, and now. Both songs dominated the scene and garnered him awards.
