“If a dead person is brought to the mortÜary with teeth out, we break it with a hammer”- MortÜary man reveals

A Ghanaian mortician, whose identity has been concealed , has spoken out about his job and how it has helped him remain humble.

According to the guy, regardless of social standing, all dead people brought to the mortuary receive the same treatment. In an interview with Oheneba Media’s Punchlines, he said that when a dead person’s neck is not straight when they arrive at the mortuary, they place ten cement blocks on the deceased’s chest to correct it.

He explained that if the deceased’s teeth are missing or their jaw is open, they use a hammer to break them and suture the dead person’s mouth shut.

“We use blocks to straighten people who aren’t straight when they die.” If the deceased’s neck is not straight, we can place ten blocks on his or her chest to break the neck and straighten the person’s neck.

“We sew it together if you die with your mouth open, and we break it with a hammer if you die with your teeth out,” he explained.

According to the mortuary guy, both the wealthy and the poor in society are treated equally. “You don’t get to choose how you’ll be treated when you die; we do.”

“We didn’t even put them on anything,” he said of how certain influential members in society were treated when they were brought to the mortuary.

We put them on the bare floor to dehydrate their bodies,” he added. Because of how humans end up when they die, the man stated his job has encouraged him to remain modest in life.
