“I have used my school fees for investment”- KNUST student begs school to reconsider it’s decision to deffer students for not paying fees
One of the 6000 KNUST students who have been deferred due to non-payment of fees claims he invested his fees, but there is no profit as of now, in order to pay the fees.
He would not have invested the fees in the business if he had known the university’s management would act so quickly.
He begged management for more time to recover his investment in order to pay the fees.
“I spent the money on a few things, but I knew I’d make money off of it and return it.” But I didn’t expect it to happen so quickly. This is my fault, and I’m not going to tell my parents,” he said.
On Wednesday, the KNUST administration announced that 6000 students’ enrollments had been postponed due to nonpayment.
According to a KNUST Public Relations Officer, “over the years we have had challenges with students finishing University and then leaving with our fees because we had not applied the fee policy.” As a result, the academic board enacted the fee policy this time.”
