“I bought the house of $100,000 in 1998 but I was given only 1 hr to pack and leave”- Odartey Lamptey shares sad story after winning court case
Odartey Lamptey exhaled a sigh of relief after winning his legal battle against his ex-wife.
After being forced to evacuate his East Legon mansion following his divorce, former Ghana Black Stars footballer Nii Odartey Lamptey has finally regained control.
After the court triumph, the former player told Angel TV that he is pleased with the latest court verdict.
He described how he bought the house with his hard-earned money in 1998, but was ordered to leave after he divorced his former wife.
Odartey claims that after he divorced his wife in 2014, he was given only an hour to leave the house.
This was a slap in the face, especially because the basis for the divorce was the discovery that all three of his children were not his legitimate offspring.
In 2017, he took the issue to the High Court, which found in his favor and awarded the wife 200,000 cedis in alimony, a car, and his four-bedroom property in Dome.
The wife was dissatisfied with the High Court decision and insisted on staying in the 7-bedroom East Legon mansion, so she appealed to the Appeals Court.
She lost her appeal in 2021, thanks to a decision by Justice Cecelia Don-Chebe Agbevey, but she asked for a retrial.
Finally, she’s lost that one as well, so the house is now being prepared for Nii Odartey Lamptey, who will be moving in tomorrow.

“This is a house I bought for $100,000 around 1998/1999 while playing in Germany so you can imagine. I was given one hour to leave the house when my ex wife filed for divorce. I’m extremely happy at this new ruling” pic.twitter.com/i1rDwBj0Yu
