“I am waiting for the president to call me and thank me for helping him win the elections”- Kwabena Kwabena

On October 17, 1978, George Kwabena Adu, also known as Kwabena Kwabena, was born in Accra. He began his education at Datus Complex in Bubuashie and continued when they relocated to Achimota at Green Hill School and Aggrey Junior Secondary School before finishing at St. Peters Secondary School in Nkwatia Kwahu in the eastern region.

He also completed his tertiary education at Accra Polytechnic and has over 20 years of experience in the music industry.

Being a draftsman by trade and combining it with his music is his great privilege, he says. He is also a songwriter, and he not only writes love songs but also gospel songs for most gospel artists.

On the 12th of February 2022, he told Abeiku Santana about his love life, music life, and some challenges he’s faced in an interview.

Among his challenges was writing a song for President of the Republic of Ghana Nana Akuffo Addo during his campaign in 2008.

People thought he had now declared his political stance as an NPP supporter, which hurt his music career because, to him, he was just doing his job as a musician, but the public saw it differently. Today, he stated that no NPP officials, including Nana Akuffo Addo, have requested to meet with him, despite the fact that other musicians have been invited to meet with the President. Is this to imply that he was only used for their benefit and that they now want nothing to do with him?

He told Abeiku Santana in his interview that he is not going to force his way through to meet them, but that if he was invited over, he would go, and that has yet to happen.

According to Kwabena Kwabena, what he went through after composing the campaign song for the NPP Government from 2008 to the present is quite painful, and he is unwilling to compose any more songs for any political party unless they pay well to serve as a security for him.

He lost most of his fans as a result of his campaign song for the New Patriotic Party, and he is unwilling to do so again unless the stakes are high enough. Based on this, it appears that the song he wrote for Nana Akuffo Addo to help him win the elections did not earn him a lot of money.

“I’m waiting for the president to call me to express my gratitude,” he said. Not everyone remembers everyone who helped them, but we hope the president recognizes Kwabena Kwabena soon if only to express his gratitude for his assistance with a campaign song.
