“I am not a Nigerian, i am proudly Ghanaian”- Black Sherif
Black Sherif has become the talk of the town since the release of his latest track, “Kwaku the Traveler.”
He became the first Ghanaian to top Nigeria’s Apple Music Top 100 Songs a few days after the song’s release.
He’s also the only Ghanaian in the top five most-streamed hip-hop artists of the week on Audiomack.
However, there was some controversy around the good news when Audiomack misidentified the young man as a Nigerian rather than a Ghanaian when releasing the figures on its official social media platform.
Ghanaians were outraged that the music platform branded Ghana’s very own Black Sherif as Nigerian after his song “Kweku the Traveller” became the most streamed on audiomack, sparking a spirited debate on social media.
Nigerians, on the other hand, were claiming the young champ for themselves after his new hit “Kweku The Traveler” topped the music charts just a few days after its release.
In a recent interview, Black Sherif, actual name Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kweku Frimpong, revealed his true nationality.
“I no Nigerian, I’m a Ghanaian. I was born and raised in Konongo Zongo in the Asante Region so I’m a Ghanaian”, He said in an exclusive interview with pulsegh
