Husband k!lls his wife buy smashing her head against the wall when she asked him for money for their upkeep

A 41-year-old Nigerian businessman has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife, Rafiat Okewole, during an argument over upkeep money. The incident occurred on Sunday, August 6, 2023, in the Gas Line area of Ijoko, Ogun State.

According to reports from Punch Newspaper, the couple, Wole and Okewole, were living separately on Odelusi Street in the Ijoko area. It is believed that the deceased had been having difficulties with her husband regarding his alleged failure to provide for their children.

Tragically, things escalated when Okewole visited her husband’s residence to collect money for their children’s upkeep. During a disagreement, Wole allegedly slammed his wife’s head against a wall, causing her death. Despite the efforts of neighbors to save her, Okewole was pronounced dead upon arrival at a nearby hospital.

The case was reported to the police by one of the deceased’s siblings, leading to the arrest of the 41-year-old husband. Akinola Shittu, one of Okewole’s brothers, expressed his devastation over the incident. He stated that his brother informed him of the incident and that he immediately rushed to the scene.

Authorities are investigating the matter further to gather evidence and ensure justice is served. The tragic event has left the family and community in shock, highlighting the importance of addressing domestic disputes in a peaceful and respectful manner.

“My elder brother called me on Sunday evening to inform me that Rafiat died. I asked what happened and he told me that it was reported to him that Wole smashed her head against the wall of his house when she went to ask for money for the upkeep of their kids,” he explained.

“This happened at Wole’s Gas Line, Ijoko residence on Sunday around 3pm. Immediately, I rushed to the house and I saw that neighbours had already gathered and my sister was taken to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead. I am devastated. I later learnt that one of my brothers who lives nearby reported the case at Sango Police Station which led to Wole’s arrest.”
