Hon. Alan Kyeremanteng, alias Alan Cash, former Trade Minister and Presidential Aspirant of the New Patriotic Party, has resigned from the party’s presidential race.
In a statement issued a few minutes earlier, the contender stated that he is no longer interested in running for President because he believes the “results from the recently held Special Delegate Congress were skewed in favor of one aspirant.”
According to him, statements made by some party leaders made it plain that a favorite had already been chosen and there was nothing he could do about it.
Alan Cash, as he was affectionately known, was in the ideal position to be the party’s presidential candidate until he stepped back to support Ghana’s current president, Nana Akuffo Addo.
Many people are surprised by his choice to quit because Vice President and candidate Dr. Bawumia appeared to have the upper hand.
