It is a steamy Monday afternoon in the capital, and everything appears to be as it should be.
Except for those who organized it, we had no idea that a heist was about to take place.
According to sources, they had set up an ambush to await the arrival of the bullion truck, which transports money along that route. When the bullion van arrived at their designated area, they struck and completed their mission.
Gunshots could be heard from miles away, and this was not a joke or a scene from a Hollywood action film. A robbery was in process.
The money was stolen from the bullion van, as well as a woman and her kid, who were killed by stray gunshots or not stray gunshots because of their closeness to the crime scene, in an attempt to wipe out any evidence.
Bullets also struck a police officer and the driver of the bullion vehicle. The cop is said to have died on the spot, but the bullion driver is said to be alive but in severe condition.
Images of the police officer who was shot circulated on the social media accounts of various media outlets shortly after the event.
You could see he was full of life and enthusiasm, and that he had a bright future ahead of him in terms of work and life. But it is a pity his story has come to an end like this.
Adendenkpo, near Korle Bu in the Greater Accra Region, was the scene of the tragic tragedy.
The police are presently conducting preliminary inquiries into the events at the crime scene.
