G@y allegations ruined my chances of becoming a head prefect – Kwame Borga recounts
Kwame Borga, a popular KNUST graduate, has disclosed that he had to cope with rumors of being a part of the LGBTQ community, which he claimed harmed his reputation.
Kwame Borga, who now lives in the United Kingdom, said his life in Ghana had been a living nightmare, and as he suffered with stubbornness, he had to fend off suspicions of homosexuality.
He was running for the head prefect of his Senior High School at the time, but it never materialized since he spent his campaigning time attending disciplinary sessions.
During the Okukuseku program on Adom TV, he informed Emelia Brobbey that the claims were made public by his close friends and colleagues who envy the love he was enjoying from the girls.
“It was tough. It started as a rumor until it went to the academic heard and I was called before the disciplinary committee.”
“There was no proof but my friend from JHS and two other teachers were so confident that I was part of those people. My friend told the academic head that he saw me doing it some time ago and he had videos to back his claims”.
When it came time to present the video, Kwame Borga claimed that none of his accusers showed up, and he was exonerated.
Throughout the incident, he said that two professors stood by him because they understood what he was capable of and what he wasn’t.
He further disclosed that several of his accusers were suspended, and those who were new were fired.
He feels such charges were simple to create since he had feminine characteristics and his accusers did not want him to lead the school as a head prefect.
