Ghanaians who were evacuated by government from Ukraine to Poland, vanish as they refuse to return to Ghana.
Ghanaian students who have been caught up in the Russia-Ukraine crisis have refused to return home.
The pupils were received by Ghana’s diplomatic mission after traveling to nearby countries such as Romania and Poland.
Six of the 23 Ghanaian students that made it to Romania refused to return to Ghana, despite the fact that the Ghana mission purchased tickets for all 23.
The number of Ghanaian students who have crossed the border into Poland so far is 80.
At the border, the Ghanaian liaison officer obtained them a temporary European Union (EU) visa.
Only 5 of the 80 boarded the Ghana mission bus, while the remaining 75 vanished.
Adding the 75 Ghanaians who refused to return to Ghana from the Poland border to the 6 who refused to return from the Romania border, the total number of Ghanaians refusing to return to Ghana is now 81.

Yesterday, the Ghana liaison officer in Poland hired a bus to the Polish boarder to transport Ghanaians to Warsaw for onward flight to Ghana. Out of 80 ppl registered at the boarder, only 5 got on the bus. The rest disappeared after being granted the temporary visa
They expect that by obtaining a temporary European Union visa, they will be able to obtain refugee status in Poland and Romania, both of which are EU members.
