Fella Makafui cries after paying Ghs 150 as E levy charge
The famed ‘obnoxious’ electronic levy went into effect on May 1, on a day dedicated to thanking employees for their hard work.
Netizens published screenshots of charges on their momo purchases, causing a public outcry.
Celebrities were not excluded from the tax, and they did not remain mute in the wake of its adoption.
Fella Makafui, an actress, was one of the few who spoke out against the new levy.
She complained in a tweet about being overcharged for a transaction she did the day before.
Outside of performing and showbiz, Fella Makafui, a businesswoman, said that she spent Gh 150.00 for a GH 10,000 transaction.
The actress stated in another tweet that the fee will not benefit small company owners.
She went on to say that the charge will take all of their profits and leave them with nothing at the end of the day.
