Ghanaian musician and social media personality, Efia Odo, has shared her perspective on the Cecilia Dapaah incident. In July 2023, the Minister for Sanitation, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, found herself embroiled in controversy when court documents revealed that two of her domestic staff were facing allegations of stealing significant amounts of money and valuable items from her.
The stolen items were said to include approximately 1 million dollars, £300,000, as well as a variety of clothing and jewelry worth a substantial sum. This revelation prompted investigations into the origin of Dapaah’s wealth by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). As a result, a search was conducted at her residences, where authorities discovered $590,000 and Gh¢2.7 million at her Abelemkpe home.
Sharing her thoughts on Twitter, Efia Odo criticized the sanitation minister for not putting effort into enhancing her appearance, despite having access to considerable resources. She specifically mentioned the quality of Dapaah’s wigs, humorously remarking that they were not up to par. Her tweet, however, received backlash from many followers, who perceived her comment as shallow and trivializing a serious matter.
It is important to note that this incident involving Cecilia Dapaah and her domestic staff is currently under investigation, and the allegations against them have not been proven in court. The Office of the Special Prosecutor is working diligently to uncover the truth behind the stolen items and the source of Dapaah’s wealth.
