Davido speaks about the death of his son for the first time (watch video)

David Adeleke, a Nigerian artist better known by his stage name Davido, has spoken candidly about losing some of his closest friends and family.

The musician’s fourth studio album, “Timeless,” featuring 17 tracks, was released on Friday, March 31, 2023. It was the musician’s first release since losing his three-year-old son, Ifeanye Adeleke.

In an interview with Beat FM, Davido highlighted that the song LNCD (Legends Can Never Die), which is track 16 on his new album, is dedicated to his late mother as well as his late friends and son.

You might remember that the Afrobeat superstar lost his mother when he was ten years old. Two years later, he lost both his bodyguard and best friend. Ifeanyi Adeleke, his son, drowned in a pool on October 31, 2022.

Yet Davido called all of the souls that have passed away “legends” who continue to exist spiritually.

“Everyone knows that I lost my mother when I was ten years old. In one to two years, losing my best friend and protector, as well as a child, would be devastating.

“I don’t believe the music is actually depressing. I simply feel that because I have lost them all, I shouldn’t really feel as though they have spiritually abandoned me. They are kind of still with me. All of them were legendary. Because of this, he said, “I always think that a legend never dies.”

He continued by saying that everyone who has lost a loved one is honored by the song.
