Ghanaian musician Daddy Lumba, also known as Charles Kwadwo Fosu, has revealed the inspiration behind his famous song “Theresa,” which he dedicated to his first girlfriend, Theresa Abebrese. In a video shared on his official YouTube page, Lumba expressed his gratitude to Theresa for her significant role in his life and success as a musician.

Lumba explained that he met Theresa in the 1980s while they were both students at Juaben Senior High School in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. Despite being a bright student, Lumba was shy and reserved in class. However, Theresa noticed him and they became friends.

During their time in school, Theresa played a pivotal role in Lumba’s life. She provided for his needs, including clothing and food, ensuring that he lacked nothing. But her influence on Lumba’s life didn’t end there.

After completing secondary school, Theresa presented Lumba with an opportunity to travel to Germany, where he could pursue a better future. Despite Lumba’s initial desire to attend university, financial constraints at home made it impossible. Thus, he accepted Theresa’s proposal and embarked on the journey to Germany.

However, Lumba faced a financial hurdle, as he couldn’t afford the cost of the travel. Theresa generously paid half of the amount, while Lumba raised the rest through contributions from his mother and sister. This act of support allowed Lumba to pursue his musical career in Germany.

Reflecting on his achievements and fame as a musician, Lumba expressed his gratitude to Theresa for her selflessness and faith in him. He acknowledged that without her support, he wouldn’t have been able to make the music that has brought him success and recognition.

Sadly, Theresa passed away in 2017, but Lumba remains deeply grateful for all she did for him. Her impact on his life will forever be remembered, and the song “Theresa” stands as a tribute to their special connection and the profound influence she had on his journey to success.
