“Come and take their dead bodies”- Nurse tells her Divorced Husband after poisoning their two kids
In Mwiyala, Kenya, on the outskirts of Kakamega town, a 32-year-old woman was arrested for poisoning her two children.
On Saturday night, March 5, Pherine Maero, a trained nurse, poisoned her two children, ages 7 and 9, and then summoned her estranged husband to “gather the remains of his children.”
According to Charles Akhonya, a watchman at the apartment where she lives, the woman approached him at the gate at 3 a.m., pleading with him to open the gate for the ‘husband,’ but when he followed them to their house, he discovered two children dead on their bed.
The woman was rescued after attempting to stab herself in the neck with a knife. She is being treated at a hospital in Kakamega as police investigate.
According to neighbors who spoke to the press, the woman has been unpredictable since divorcing her husband, and at one point broke her husband’s car, which was parked at the apartment.
The suspect, who is in serious condition in the hospital, will be charged with murder after she recovers, according to Valerian Obore, the OCPD for Kakamega Central.
The minors’ bodies were transferred to the Kakamega County General Teaching & Referral Hospital’s mortuary.
