Church refuses to bury a man because he promised Gh¢15K before his death and failed to deliver
A Twitter user claims that a church refused to bury a guy because he pledged the church N1 million (Gh14,956.23) but failed to live to his promise before his death.
According to the Nigerian Twitter user, the incident occurred in his hometown when a church requested that the deceased’s family redeem the money he promised before he could be buried. The family refused to do so.
The deceased guy had apparently promised the church money when they were looking to buy land, but he died before he could fulfill his end of the bargain.
In his words, “A man lived all his life serving and providing for the Catholic church in my town. He pledged 1M to the church because they want to purchase a plot of land, along the line he fall ill unfortunately he died and Church insist on the pledge to be redeemed before they can bury him.”
The tweep, FelixNweke made his tweet while he was reacting to another tweet that claimed that a catholic church is insisting that a dead man’s elder brother who is not a catholic must pay his dues before they can bury their late mother.
