Ashᾰwo girls from Nigeria take over Koforidua at night
A group of young women, believed to be Nigerians, have taken over the streets of Koforidua, the capital of the Eastern Region.
According to reports, a Nigerian agency is trafficking these young ladies to Ghana in order to place them in well-paying jobs.
They are all older than 16 years old.
They meet at a brothel in one of Koforidua’s most well-known hangouts at night.
They are said to charge between GHC30 and GHC300 for a few hours in their clients’ homes or hotels.
According to Starr FM, sex traffickers have utilized the Bula Spot and Little Ben shoe facilities as brothels to keep their captives. The owners of the facilities rent them out to sex traffickers.
Clients who force victims to sleep during the day and labor at night provide sexual relations in exchange for payment.
These two brothels, located in the heart of Koforidua, offer a wide range of sexual services, with prices starting at Ghc30 for a single encounter.
The traffickers will enable her to be taken away by clients as long as the client pays at least GHC300 and GHC50 for a bouncer who will monitor the victim’s location.
Christian Ofor, the Association of Nigerians’ Eastern Regional Vice-Chairman, responded to this development.
He claimed that one of the trafficked girls had lately escaped but that the Koforidua District Police Command had refused to collect her statement.
Meanwhile, he is calling with Ghanaian authorities to bring the traffickers to justice and return the girls to their families.
