Angry Netizens React As Man ‘Tries To Help’ a Woman at The Gym

A male fitness fanatic was slammed on social media for giving “unsolicited advice” to a female gym-goer.

A man posting to Reddit under the handle Budget Ingenuity6404 claimed he was “just trying to help a girl at the gym.”

In the post, which has over 10,000 likes, he said a woman started going to his gym regularly a month ago. “I’m not a stalker, we just happened to be there at the same time,” he said.

The man says he’s been going to the gym for years and considers himself “pretty knowledgeable” about fitness. “I’ve noticed she doesn’t have a workout routine, no leg day, no arm day, etc. She only works out a few body parts each time “he said “She doesn’t count reps or sets, it’s a mess.”

He saw her on the treadmill and decided to talk to her. Then he “politely advised her to have a workout plan and target specific body parts each time.”

“Three times a week” is all she can afford, and she claims it’s “unnatural” to focus on one body part. Even after she told him “that’s not how she likes her work out,” he “insisted” she try to have “designated days.”

He went on to advise the woman to “focus on muscle groups and nutrition,” to which she “got angry” and “practically yelled” at him to “leave her alone.” He finally gave in, returning to his “workout buddies,” who agreed “she was out of line.”

But social media felt completely different. One angry Reddit user, Cloud nin9, wrote: “Don’t give unasked-for advice Ever. Especially to gym-goers. It’s creepy and harassing.”

The woman was “full on harassed” by the man, according to NatFreeRider and Huggie1. Their comments included, “This guy’s behavior is why I stopped going to gyms.”

Thswillsoonendbadly was astonished by the man’s lack of self-awareness, remarking, “He harassed her for ten minutes!! “Holy s***, man! ” No-Cars-Go: “That’s why women-only gyms exist. So many men complain about sexism, but this is why they exist.

One woman, Poverload237, slammed the man’s actions. “You not only gave unwanted advice, but you also insulted her,” she wrote. “A big strong MAN knows what’s best for a little girl! ‘I must save her because she can’t be happy doing what she is!'”

“Leave women alone and try sticking to your own form in the future,” she advised him.

As Final Toe-8403 put it, “He claims he isn’t a stalker but… I know that when I am in the gym I am too busy with my own stuff to keep track of random people’s workouts in such detail.”
