A woman who had just given birth, arrested for stealing phones and laptops belonging to nurses at a hospital.
The Nima Police have arrested a nursing mother who is said to have given birth about a month ago at the Labour Ward of the Greater Accra Region Hospital, Ridge, for stealing mobile phones and other items.
The suspect was apprehended by the hospital’s Internal Security after she stole mobile phones, money, ID cards, wig caps belonging to nurses on duty, and a laptop, according to a hospital statement.
According to the report, she was arrested after intelligence was picked up by security after she returned to the ward the next day to pick up the rest of the items she had targeted, but she was apprehended.
She was immediately arrested and taken to the Nima police station, where she confessed and escorted the cops to a hideout in Tudu to retrieve the items.
In a statement, the Greater Accra Regional Hospital warns anyone considering or planning to steal from the facility to reconsider their decision, as any person or persons caught will be dealt with and prosecuted.
The hospital praised the security guards and nurse on duty, whose alertness assisted in apprehending the thief.
