A security guard explains why he raped and k!lled a 32-year-old woman: “I wanted to sleep with her but she refused.”
A security guard who killed Ruth Yakadi Bako, 32, in the state’s Jos North Local Government Area has been paraded by the Plateau State Police Command.
According to accounts, in December last year, the late Ruth, a UNIJOS graduate, was killed at Angwan Jarawa in the Farin-Gada neighborhood of Jos after being stabbed, raped, and having her valuables taken away.
After the heinous occurrence, the State Commissioner of Police, CP Bartholomew Onyeka, addressed the media on Tuesday, April 4, 2023. He did so through the command’s spokesperson, DSP Alfred Alabo.
Using the victim’s phone, the police officer of the Laranto Division of the command, under the direction of CSP Pam Dauda Ishaya, sprang into action and detained one Ephraim Emmanuel of Angwan Jarawa, Farin-Gada, and Jos.
When questioned, the suspect said that Samson, of the same residence, had sold the phone to him one Friday. He continued by saying that additional investigation resulted in Samson’s arrest—a choirmaster who admitted to having raped and killed Ruth.
The 29-year-old suspect, a father of two, claimed to have committed rape and murder against Ruth after she refused to share a bed with him at a press conference.
The accused claims that he saw her getting out of a commercial truck late at night after leaving work and followed her to a remote location where he raped her after a protracted fight.
“I am here because I raped and killed someone. I don’t have any reason for what I did but I did it, it is just wickedness of the heart. That day, I just wanted to sleep with her but she refused, due to wickedness, I raped and killed her. I am a security guard at a filling station at Farin Gada. That day, I was on duty that night and I saw her passing at about 11 pm.
I have never seen her before and I don’t know her but I called her and told her I wanted to sleep with her but she refused. I chased her and caught up with her. That was when I stabbed and raped her. She was not dead when I raped her, it is just wickedness of the heart. After I raped her, I picked up her phone and held it for one month. After that I sold it to Ephraim Emmanuel“, he narrated.
