A man who pretended to be a soldier stormed a police station looking for trouble and ended up digging his own grave has been arrested.
The imposter, George Onderi, decided to wear a military uniform and stormed the Suneka Police Station Report Office, where he confronted Constable Mary Maina while dressed inappropriately in a jungle uniform.
Onderi was arrested immediately after failing to identify himself, and he is now being held at the station awaiting a full investigation by DCI officers.
“Police officers in Kisii are holding a suspect who stormed Suneka Police Station Report Office desk wearing the jacket of a Military Police Sergeant and dragged out a female police officer who he alleged wore inappropriate police jungle uniform,” the Kenyan police said in a statement.
In the 9 p.m. incident, the imposter, 27-year-old George Onderi, arrived at the station in his Toyota Belta car, parked, and proceeded to the station building, where he confronted Constable Mary Maina, the police officer on duty at the report office desk, on allegations she wore the wrong jungle print uniform.
The intruder violently yanked the lady officer from her duty post, prompting her colleague and the duty officer to intervene immediately.
The suspected Military Imposter is said to have refused to identify himself in front of Deputy OCS Suneka, IP Cephas Ombija.
He is being held at the station while DCI officers investigate any possible links to criminal activity in the area. He will be charged with impersonation and causing a disturbance.
In the past, we’ve seen cases where criminals illegally used the identities of our traditional security forces to further their criminal activities.
