My success in music is not tied to winning Awards – Okyeame Kwame
Veteran Hiplife Artiste Okyeame Kwame, in an interview with Amansan Krakye on GBC Radio Central, has noted that he is not worried that after being in the music industry for close to two decades, has never been nominated for BET or Grammy Awards.
According to him, thorough out his life and career, he has never housed the ambition to get a foreign award, stressing that award-winning is not the sole reason for doing music but it comes as a bonus.
Okyeame Kwame laid bare his disappointments in Ghanaians for how they do not cherish the Ghanain Awards(Vodafone Music Awards) but hails outside honors.
“We don’t value what belongs to us but rather we depend so much on external stimuli in order to realize that we are making giant strides in the music industry,” he said.
Okyeame Kwame revealed that his aspirations are tied to being able to inspire people with his song and to him that is enough and worth more than receiving awards. “I’m an artist and the reason I do produce songs is to inspire people to help in the development of the country” he added.
