A 50-year-old guy who went to steal some coconuts died after falling from the tree while climbing to pluck down the fruits.
The victim, known as Kwabena Tantantan, was found dead after falling from a tree near Saltpond on Thursday.
According to accounts, Kwabena Tantantan is a well-known thief who takes coconut from people’s plantations in the town and sells it to get money to support his family.
Residents of Saltpond who spoke to reporters indicated that they were not surprised because they had long suspected Kwabena Tantantan of stealing from people’s farmland and needed proof.
