19 years old boy sentenced to 4 months in prison for stealing Indomie
Hillary Yunana, a 19-year-old student, was sentenced to four months in prison for stealing spaghetti, noodles, and cash from a local shop.
The 19-year-old student, who lives in Bassa village on Abuja’s airport road, was charged with burglary and theft.
Sani Umar, the Judge, sentenced Yunana on Thursday, March 17, after he pleaded guilty to the offense and begged the court for mercy.
Umar, on the other hand, gave the convict the option of paying N10,000 for each of the offenses or serving a two-month jail term for each of the offenses.
He stated that the sentence would be served concurrently and warned him not to commit crimes in the future.
According to the judge, the sentence will serve as a deterrent to anyone who wishes to continue down that depraved path in the future.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Abudulahi Tanko, told the court that the convict had broken into Gift Ugochukwu’s shop at the same address on March 4.
Tanko stated that the convict stole seven pieces of spaghetti, five pieces of noodles, and a cash sum of N10,000, totaling N13,000, an offense that violated Sections 346 and 287 of the Penal Code.
